3 Reasons why you should tape up, use a kneecap or wrist wraps!

People turn to protection gear for many reasons. Below are 3 reasons why I think you should use protective gear.

1. For quicker recovery post-injury. If you’ve undergone surgery for a sports injury then this needs no introduction. For the rest, it is common for physiotherapists to recommend that you tape up or use a brace for additional recovery and support. As this is the period of maximum vulnerability to suffering another injury if you’re not careful, this additional support to build your strength back up is essential.

2. To improve your performance during sports/activity. Use it for all the gains, know what you are doing! If you are squatting in the right form, performance accessories will only make you stronger. If you have poor form, all the belts, kneecaps or tape in the world will not be helpful for you.

3. Protection against cuts and bruises. Torn calluses and bleeding shins are not trophies and should be avoided. Sure, you can withstand the pain. But try to imagine how long you’ll be out of action if your wounds get infected and your ‘trophies’ won’t seem so glorious anymore. You can be strong and not bleed!
